I have followed guerrilla knitters activities since moving to London, it seems like such a brilliant idea of bringing fun, art and colour into areas that otherwise don’t seem to attract attention otherwise. If only I could knit a bit faster I would try and join in. Here are the wool-clad trees at the top of Chatsworth Road.
Baby green, baby yellow
28 DecThe next pearly king and queen cardigans were for a set of identical twins. A discussion had taken place between the expectant mummy and myself as to whether the parents of new-born twins instantly know which baby was which, and was told that more often than not, they are as confused as everyone else. So they took with them to the hospital a yellow ribbon and green ribbon to tie around the babies ankles to tell them apart. So for an extra help, I coloured co-ordinated the cardigans to match the ribbons.
Baby boys wear salmon
20 NovFollowing on from my first pearly king and queen cardigans, a new batch of babies was being brewed by my friends, with three expected to be born in a short space of time. The pattern pieces were dutifully knitted by my awesome mummy, before being posted on to myself to sew them together, and add the all-important buttons – only a small mis-communication from myself to my mother meant that a pink cardigan was ready and waiting for the first baby with no guarantee of the baby being a girl… could I claim it was salmon?? Really?? Luckily some speedy knitting and button sewing meant a blue one was made in time for Master Finley to be born – phew!!
Snug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug..
12 NovIt’s gone and got cold again. This has resulted in me ditching the summer blonde and dying the hair a bright copper red. It has also resulted in me reaching for the knitwear, and getting to wear a lovely snood created by the lovely Chloe of MadebyChloe. MadebyChloe is the place to go for modern, chunky knitwear in distinctive colours, big, textured wool and designs that allow you to really get a feel for the original yarn. I now wait for my big red bus to take me home as snug as a bug in a rug…
