Day of the Dead

15 May

Last October, a friend organised a day of the dead craft session. Being a born and bred Texan she often speaks longingly of the Mexican food and culture that had such a strong influence on her childhood, and Day of the dead is a key celebration. It is a much more spiritual affair than its North American cousin Halloween, with an emphasis on all items produced being dedicated to loves ones passed away, and a much more matter of fact attitude to the dead. Though the bright, colourful and unashamedly gaudy look and feel of the festival means it could rival any rival any decorative pumpkin lantern or spider web creation without any problem.
