Full stop Acrobatic Theatre
16 DecMy friends Vicki and Wibbe form the acrobatic act Fullstop Acrobatic Theatre. It aims to offer a contemporary look at circus performance, blending traditional acrobatic and aerial skills with modern dance and physical theatre techniques. They travel all over Europe and needed new flyers in a variety of languages, good job that their friend Sammi is a designer…

Beryl Cook
6 DecThis summer Beryl Cook had an exhibition at Bristol Museum. I have to confess to avoiding her work in the past as my GCSE art teacher adored her work and as often happens being ‘taught’ about an artist put me off her. But upon entering the exhibition you are greeted with the following notice.

Beryl Cook never cared if her work was considered good or bad art. She got pleasure from creating it, and that was enough. So whether your taste in art is Turner or Banksy, its hard not to gain pleasure from someone’s paintings that’s already achieved its main purpose. Beryl Cook enjoyed painting it.

More trees please!!!
30 NovTrees for Cities are an independent charity that inspires people to plant and love trees worldwide. They recently held a free festival in Battersea Park called the Tree-Athlon, with people taking part in a 5K run, given a chance to plant a tree, take part in a100m barefoot world record attempt, listen to live music and create a giant piece of street art. Being a bit of a lazy-bones at the moment, I didn’t fancy the run, but did donate money to plant a tree and currently have my little leafy friend on the balcony of my flat.

A secret little art tour
2 NovI was working as part of the crew at this year’s Secret Garden Party, and the leader of our little Asstrology crew (codenamed Cavemama, just so you know) organised a tour of the Secret Garden party Art trail with the very talented artist Shrine. Secret Garden Party have a special place in their hearts for all things creative and are dedicated to championing grass roots creatives and supporting established contemporary artists, so who better to lead the tour than one of the brilliant people displaying their work there…
