The Daidogei Festival

24 May

I’ve already spoken about them before, but the very talented Vicki and Wibbe Pompe who form Fullstop Acrobatic, who perform their fantastic routines all across Europe, went international in the autumn of 2010 and performed in the Daidogei Festival taking place in Shizuoka, Japan. Here are just a few snaps to show me what I missed out on I was stuck in wet and cold England.

Lil’ Pearly King or Queen

21 Feb

Two of my friends recently gave birth and to make sure that their offspring were trend-setters from the word go, I got knitting needles and old buttons out of the sewing box, and with a bit (alright a lot) of help from my mother made a pearly king and queen cardigan and booties for both of them.

some very old grafetti

16 Feb

On a recent trip to Rome with a girlfriend, where we successful squished in every tourist attraction possible to our limited time, I found this amazing graffiti carved into the walls of the coliseum, with dates of the artist/vandal carved next to it, dating back to 1922 in some cases – not what I was expecting from my ancient ruin visit!

Handmade by Rara

18 Jan

Way back in balmy December I helped out at the Secret Emporiums Christmas Market. One of the stall holders was the super talented Rara, with her stall ‘Rara Handmade’, selling a collection of delectable hand-crafted garments and goodies all made in vintage inspired prints to bring out the 50’s domestic goddess in anyone. All of the goodies on display and more can be bought by getting in touch with Rara directly by emailing: rarabarbie@yahoo.co.uk

Full stop Acrobatic Theatre

16 Dec

My friends Vicki and Wibbe form the acrobatic act Fullstop Acrobatic Theatre. It aims to offer a contemporary look at circus performance, blending traditional acrobatic and aerial skills with modern dance and physical theatre techniques. They travel all over Europe and needed new flyers in a variety of languages, good job that their friend Sammi is a designer…

More trees please!!!

30 Nov

Trees for Cities are an independent charity that inspires people to plant and love trees worldwide. They recently held a free festival in Battersea Park called the Tree-Athlon, with people taking part in a 5K run, given a chance to plant a tree, take part in a100m barefoot world record attempt, listen to live music and create a giant piece of street art. Being a bit of a lazy-bones at the moment, I didn’t fancy the run, but did donate money to plant a tree and currently have my little leafy friend on the balcony of my flat.

A secret little art tour

2 Nov

I was working as part of the crew at this year’s Secret Garden Party, and the leader of our little Asstrology crew (codenamed Cavemama, just so you know) organised a tour of the Secret Garden party Art trail with the very talented artist Shrine. Secret Garden Party have a special place in their hearts for all things creative and are dedicated to championing grass roots creatives and supporting established contemporary artists, so who better to lead the tour than one of the brilliant people displaying their work there…

A little bit of Miss Led

19 Oct

The very talented and totally amazing Miss Led recently did some live action painting in Battersea Park as part of the Trees for Cities festival. Whilst my poor time-keeping and the North Vs South London divide when it comes to crossing the river (I know of no transport routes further south than Waterloo station) meant I missed the live action event, I did manage to get some shots of the finished piece.

Interior design: take 2

11 Oct

My second interior design project at Nameless: Helping to turn the second meeting room, known as the ‘beanbag room’ thanks to the over-sized bean bags that were impossible to get out of in a dignified manner (and as someone who wore a uniform of mini skirts and leggings I attempted many different ways) into a slightly more client friendly space. It continued with the theme of digital curiosity and had magnetic walls to allow for sketchboarding sessions and displaying client work.

A very creative wedding

22 Sep

One of my closet friends recently got married, and I now got to say that “my friend Vix and her husband Wibbe are the acrobatic performers behind Fullstop Acrobatic Theatre…” They recently performed a piece called “No Mad Land” as part of The Lost Company at Kadaboem Festival, and for their wedding wanted creative friends to produce work, all on the theme of love, that could be displayed within the one man pop–up tents used in the “No Mad Land” performance. It had to be transportable to allow the exhibit to travel back with them to mainland Europe. After a bit of head scratching I produced a series of sketches and typographic cut-outs all pinned to the roof of the tent, allowing viewers to peer in from outside or crawl inside and view the sketches up-close.
